UPDATE: The burn ban has been lifted by the Jefferson County Sheriff as of May 1, 2020. As of 6:30pm, Saturday, April 4, 2020, the Jefferson County Fire Chief’s Association has passed a motion to ban all burning in Jefferson County.
Ron Wegner of the Jefferson County Fire & EMS Association writes: “We ask that citizens comply with our requests to ensure the safety of our staff as it relates to social distancing and COVID-19. Spring cleaning type wildland fires put our staff at undue risk from preventable fire incidents. Violations are subject to the penalties imposed by the individual town and their respective AHJ.”
No burning of brush, tree lines and scrub grasses.
Small personal campfires are permitted in contained burn pits for family enjoyment. Must be in compliance with the state’s Stay at Home Orders regarding the number of people allowed to gather together.
