Hi Town of Lake Mills Electors!
With a very big November Election coming up, I wanted to share some important dates for electors to be aware of, official notices of some of this information is yet to come but with kids heading back to school or college, fall activities beginning and a shift from summer to fall for work schedules, these dates/notice may be over looked:
OCTOBER 16, 2024: NOW until October 16th Mail-in and On-line Voter Registration is available. October 16th is the last day you can indepentently register to vote without having to make an appointment with me, your clerk, prior to the November election. Keep in mind we do have election day registration, but it will be a busy day and if you are new to the Town of Lake Mills (must be a resident of the Town as of October 8, 2024) or are a new elector (just turned 18) prior to the November election day, it is most efficent to register by mail or online prior to the deadline if possible. To register online go to www.myvote.wi.gov. or email me for a form or if you have questions at [email protected].
ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS: If you prefer to vote by absentee by mail, try to get your requests in soon, the first batch of absentees will be mailed to electors who have a request on file by September 19th which gives you ample time to return the absentee ballots as instructions provided with your absentee ballot state.
Early In-person absentee voting by appointment starts Tues. October 22, 2024. you will need to contact me to set up a time I can meet you at the hall to do the early absentee votine. This option ends on Friday, Nov 1, 2024. I try to accomidate electors needs as much as I am able, but appreciate that you plan ahead as much as possible as well and consider using the absentee by mail option to receive your ballot sooner if needed.
Election Day is Tuesday, NOVEMBER 5, 2024! We have very active voters in that come on election day and our election officials work as efficently as possible but lines are still to be expected, be prepared for whatever the weather maybe and understand that parking is limited within the Town Hall parking lot and having to use street parking is likely. There is no parking on the street directly infront of the hall as posted by the City, but there is parking on the opposite side of the street and on the side streets in the area.
FYI: You are able to review what is on the ballot, track your absentee ballot requests and mailed ballots through the website (www.myvote.wi.gov) . When I receive your completed absentee ballots, I check the certificate envelope to be sure all required information is provided, and check for the required signatures, then enter the date I have received your ballot so you can be assured it has been received and will be cast on your behalf on the election day.
If you have any questions please contact me by email at [email protected]
Thanks everyone for your attention. The election is two months away but the election processes have already begun!
Robin Untz, Town Clerk
