Do I need to notify the Clerk and/or Sheriff if I plan to burn?
Notification is not needed for small fire in private fire pits.
The Town Board would prefer use of the bi-annual curbside yard waste pick up service for disposal of brush. If you must burn instead, please notify the Jefferson County Sheriff (920) 674-7310. And always be mindful of safety and consider your neighbors. It is not required to contact the Town clerk if you have contacted Jefferson County.
Treated wood, garbage, recyclables, tire, shingles, furniture etc. should not be burned.
No parking in Shorewood Hills.
Town Ordinance 6-2: Driving Regulations, prohibits parking on specific town roads "when signs are erected" on those roads. Parking in the Shorewood Hills neighborhood has been prohibited for many years, and there were no issues. In 2013 there were issues, and the rule needed to be enforced. In order to enforce, signs had to be erected. So, the rule started a long time ago; it's only the signs that are new.
Email the address, date and time of the event to the Town Clerk at [email protected] in advance to the special private event. Your guests will not be ticketed for parking on the street but if there are safety concerns from the public, law enforcement or emergency service, cooperation with the vehicle owners will be necessary to adjust the parking arrangements. We do ask that vehicles not be parked on the street overnight or this allowance be utilized in lieu of providing regular on property parking. There are no street lights or curbs in Shorewood Hills making it especially dangerous to have vehicles parked on the street at night.
Email the Town Clerk at [email protected] and provide your address, date and times of service. Safety has to be priority for your workers and service providers, they cannot block, damage road ways or road right of ways. Traffic flow of both lanes can not be hindered by parked vehicles and equipment, flaggers, safety cones and signage are required for large projects. The Town reserves the right to address safety or damaging use of the roadways and road right of ways which may result in workers and service providers being revoked of the right to use the roadways or road right of ways while they work on your property. The property owner is responsible for the workers and service providers and any costs associated with correction of issues.
